Rivers could not do what Brett Brown couldn’t do, as his team could not reach the Eastern Conference Finals in any of his years coaching the Sixers. According to Woj, the list of potential candidates to replace Rivers include: Mike Budenholzer, Sam Cassell, Mike D’Antoni, Nick Nurse, Frank Vogel, and Monty Williams.

I have two preferences as of this writing: promoting Sam Cassell, or hiring Monty Williams. These seem like the two most logical outcomes. However, Rivers’ dismissal also points to a potential return to Philly by James Harden, and that puts D’Antoni right in the mix as he coached him in Houston.
Or, Harden might choose to go back to Houston after his camp continuously planted the seeds through the media this season.
Stay tuned.
