The Morning Brew for August 10, 2015

Back from a weekend in Ocean City, Maryland. Bachelor party. Of which we will not speaketh of. To the brew:

Over 40,000 Eagles fans showed up at practice at the Linc yesterday. Crazy.

In a terrible story no matter how you look at it, a pilot crashed and was killed at Compton-Woodley Airport in California yesterday. It was the same airport that the pilot who was going to fly the Eagles banner “We got DeMarco! :)” out of and over Cowboys training camp. At first, it looked like it was the pilot that was hired by EROCK to fly the banner over the Cowboys practice, but it turns out that it was another pilot and the airport was shut down after the crash.

But, it’s still a terrible tragedy and we want to help any way that we can. A few of us are coming together and details will be released soon on how we can help the family of that pilot who was killed. Stay tuned.

This banner stuff was fun, to an extent. Some people were annoyed, but I thought it was funny. Eagles fans organized one first, then Cowboys fans organized their own, which included a donation from notorious woman-beater, Greg Hardy. Their banner flew over the Linc yesterday – during the national anthem. On Military Day.

Understandably, there’s no way it was planned that way. But seeing Cowboys Nation (@CowboysNation) pretty much melt down was fun to watch. [His Twitter feed doesn’t include the Tweets he deleted after the fact. Of course.]

Sheil Kapadia is leaving Birds 24/7 and will not be writing about the Eagles anymore. This is a shame because Kapadia was one of the best Eagles writers in this city, maybe even the country. The city and fans will miss him.

JaCorey Shepherd’s injury. Can we trade for Brandon Boykin?

Presented without comment [on Pete Mackanin replacing Ryne Sandberg].

Flash forward…

I can do this in my sleep.

Chase did a smile thing.

Malcolm Jenkins on why Chip Kelly keeps certain players and gets rid of the other ones.

Yeah, it doesn’t look good at all for Patrick Kane.

We’ve found our fantasy football writer. We want to thank everyone for inquiring and sending us their samples – we had close to 300 entries. As you can imagine, that took a little bit of time to sort through. We want to welcome Seth Vigdor to as our fantasy football writer. Seth’s previous experience includes writing for The Fantasy Football Insider and Score Streak. He’ll be doing everything that we asked for, which includes: two to three posts per week, being available on social media for any breaking news or updates, and also doing an online chat on Sunday mornings for anyone that needs last minute help in filling their lineup for the week.

We’re excited to have Seth as part of the family. We know you will be, too.

And last Thursday, The Straight Shooters wrestling podcast debuted on Wildfire Radio. We’re already hearing rave reviews.’s Vaughn Johnson and I talk about Summerslam, the Divas revolution, Lucha Underground, Ring of Honor, and a lot more. Listen here.

We’ll announce this week’s guest for our show a little bit later today.
