In the second period of Saturday night’s Flyers-Rangers game, play abruptly stopped shortly after a face-off at the urging of a thrown glove from the Flyers bench onto the ice.
Michael Raffl had collapsed on the bench and had to be helped to the locker room. It appears that Raffl accidentally took an elbow to the head by Rangers forward Jarret Stoll, though unintentional.
Raffl did not return to the game in what was a truly scary situation. After the game, Ron Hextall would only say it’s an “upper-body injury” and Raffl was fine and was even “cracking jokes.”
