Sam Bradford Passed on a 4-Year, $72 Million Offer from the Eagles

Now there’s a rumor that the Eagles offered Samuel J. [I’m guessing?] Bradford an extension before the start of the season, and the quarterback passed on it. Details on what the contract entailed come from a report by Howard Eskin on 94WIP earlier today.

“They were big fans of Bradford,” Eskin explained. “They’re not as big of fans of Bradford because obviously they will not sign him to the contract that he turned down which was about $18 million a year.” Eskin went on to clarify that the offer the Eagles made to Bradford was for 4 years at $18 million per year. Eskin also reported that it was Bradford’s agent, not Bradford, that ultimately influenced the turning down of the deal.”

In my eyes, this is the biggest win the Eagles have had all season long!

It’s no hidden secret here at Philly Influencer I am the most vocal in my distaste for Bradford. I agree our O-line has not played well. I agree that our receivers have done Sammy no favors with all of the drops they’ve had. However, I refuse to look beyond the fact that Bradford has struggled in his own ways, and has not been someone we should look to defend. We sure as hell shouldn’t have him on this roster for another four seasons!

It’s unsettling that after a few preseason games the Eagles would offer up this type of contract. I would like to send an Edible Arrangement [product placement!] to Bradford and his agent, however, for turning down this offer. I’ll take this as a Monday win. Now, onto beating Dallas this week!

Let us know what you think about this in the comments and on social media. Is it a good thing Bradford passed on the rumored deal?
