Report: Jason Peters Refused to Play Yesterday If He Wasn’t Going to Start

Howard Eskin, who says that Sam Bradford doesn’t remember the first half of the game against the Dolphins, is now saying that Jason Peters refused to be a backup yesterday.

On FOX 29 Sports Sunday last night, Eskin said he was told that Peters was told he would suit up and would be a backup, but Peters refused. According to Eskin, Peters said, “If I’m not starting, I’m not playing.”

If this is true, and regardless of Eskin’s hilarious misses in recent years, he’s still been on the money with his recent reports. On my way to the game, Dave Spadaro came on 94WIP and reported that Peters would be suited up as a backup, and everybody that was currently on the air agreed that was a great plan. I was one of them. Peters should’ve been fine with being a backup, regardless of possibly leaving yourself with one less roster spot for the game. As it would play out, a lot of injuries played a factor in yesterday’s game, and Peters’ absence may have played a factor in why that offensive line was playing really poorly.

Chip Kelly is really playing with fire right now. His players refusing to play if they’re not starting isn’t a good sign at all.
