Major League Baseball’s Home Run King, Barry Bonds, has tentatively accepted a position as the Marlins’ hitting coach, according to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale. On Monday, CBS Sports’ Jon Heyman reported that the possibility was getting greater and greater.
Bonds would join new Marlins manager, Don Mattingly, in completely revamping the team’s coaching staff. With Giancarlo Stanton already in the fold for the foreseeable future, Bonds’ addition to the staff could only help Marlins hitters in the long run.
One thing’s for sure: Ken Rosenthal really wants Bonds back in the league for some reason.
Bonds played 22 years in MLB, had a career batting average of .298, to go along with 762 HRs, 1,996 RBIs and had a .444 OBP.
