Before the Eagles take on New England this week and get dominated, the two teams held joint workouts this week. The Patriots and the Eagles are currently on two alternative ends of the spectrum in the universe right now. Though the Patriots are coming off of their first loss of the season, they’ve pretty much been on cruise control all season. While the Eagles on the other hand are a complete mess.
They’re coming off back to back games in which they gave up 40+ points, one time to Tampa Bay and the other time to Detroit on Thanksgiving. Still, the Eagles have a shot to win their dreadful division, but they must win this game against the Patriots. The Patriots will be without their star TE, Rob Gronkowski – which is a huge break for the Birds.
Bill Belichick had some praise for Chip Kelly and the Eagles this week.
“I think they do a lot of great things,” Belichick said. “We’ve learned a lot from them. Some of the things they’ve done in their program we’ve been able to adapt to ours.
“I’m not saying ours is theirs, but you take an idea or you take a concept that they’re using and if it’s something that you like maybe you figure out a way to integrate it into yours. Maybe it’s the same idea but it’s done a little differently because of the way you’re set up or whatever the circumstances are.
“There are definitely things like that. When we’ve practiced against them, I’ve been very impressed with the way that operation is run, and we’ve definitely taken some things from it, no question.”
Clearly Bill is just being a nice guy at this point because if he actually watched film of the Eagles – which I’m certain he did, he’d know that this Eagles team is an absolute joke. It was still awfully kind of Belichick to come out of his grumpy shell for a moment.
