New Phillies General Manager Matt Klentak is making a strong first impression. Since being hired by the organization, he’s been wheeling and dealing. We told you about their biggest offseason deal to date that involved trading Ken Giles to Houston. They acquired Charlie Morton from the Pirates. The Phils also previously announced the signings of catcher J.P. Arencibia and former Angels’ closer, Ernesto Frieri. Those moves are in addition to adding veteran pitchers Edward Mujica and Andrew Bailey to minor league contracts.
Today the Phillies announced another trade. The Phillies have traded relief pitcher Dan Otero to the Indians for cash considerations.

When all is said and done though, this offseason will be remembered for the Ken Giles trade. Giles recently had a little fun when thanking the Phillies fans, despite being booed in his MLB debut.
