Adam Caplan: The Eagles’ Front Office Is Behind the Rest of the League

Adam Caplan was a guest on the 97.5 The Fanatic Midday Show yesterday and had a couple interesting things to say about the Eagles and their front office. While we’re still waiting for a head of player personnel to be named – that Jeffrey Lurie said will eventually be named – reporters and members of the Eagles’ front office are taking in the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama.

Caplan was asked what exactly the head of player personnel would be doing when finally hired. His response is below.

The way I understand it, I’ve talked to a couple people who were hoping to get an interview for this process, and this person will have a heavy emphasis on scouting, as far as he’ll know the draft, he’ll know free agency. He’ll know both pro and college scouting. They’re not bringing in a guy that just does one. He’ll have his hands in both areas.

Now, as far as control, and I know that’s what everyone wants to know, it’s gonna be depending on who they hire. If they get their number one target, and it’s a guy that’s experienced, he’s gonna have some sort of control. And obviously, he’s gonna have a lot of input. And that’s the thing – it’s not like they’re gonna bring in someone who’s just gonna report to Howie Roseman and that guy’s not gonna have input. This guy will have plenty of input. The issue of control will come down to who they bring in and the experience. They’re not gonna just bring someone in who’s got three years of scouting experience and give this guy control. That will not happen. And again, the guy won’t be named general manager, he’ll be director of player personnel. But my sense is it’s going to be someone with a lot of experience and someone who can come in and get started here.

And by the way, they also don’t have a college scouting director. That’s another issue. I mentioned on my show with Joe DeCamara last week that the Eagles’ personnel department right now is undermanned and they need to hit the ground running here. They’re behind what other teams are doing right now.

That sounds awesome. Really cool. How in the hell do you not have your personnel department head in place at this point? Mind-boggling. If Pederson wins games with this front office, he’ll be doing it in spite of these guys. Though, Caplan does say the Eagles have one of the best college scouting departments in the league and a good pro scouting department, but the fact that there’s nobody overseeing that right now is a problem that puts the team behind the others.

Caplan also talked about players the Eagles were interested in before all of the above quotes. Listen to the entire interview here.

This team is a front compared to any other team in the league howie is like the spoiled rich kid, doug pederson is basically jason kelce and Jeffy lurie is basically big daddy. Lurie should make a movie about this where he can star in as an incompetent douche this is just the most hilarious organization in all of pro sports period. Love just the way adam Kaplan and joe decamara and the rest of the media just have lurie and Roseman back on what ever nonsense they do or say which is more than enough.I can see a nice 4~12 NEXT YEAR. Can’t wait until they draft paxton lynch with their first round pick at 13. Hahaha!
