Brian Baldinger: Eagles Hiring Doug Pederson Is a Panic Move

Not many people are thrilled with the eventual hire of Doug Pederson as the next Eagles’ head coach. I’m one of them. You’re probably one of them. My great great great grandparents are two of them. And it sounds like Brian Baldinger is one of them.

On CSN’s Quick Slants tonight, Baldinger said that the Eagles hiring Pederson has all the makings of a panic move due to so many candidates passing on them.

Well, um, there’s a lot here, Gunner. I mean, I like Doug personally. So, I’ll put that out there. I think it’s a big step for a guy like Doug. But I believe that this was a panic move. They were getting rejected by other candidates, whether it was Adam Gase or Ben McAdoo or Tom Coughlin – clear rejections – and they could not allow another day to go by and let this thing kind of fester. And so you go to Doug, who knows the building, knows Howie, knows Jeffrey, knows the way they want business conducted. And Doug can certainly handle that part of it.

But this is a move I think out of desperation and panic at this point. It’s not reflective necessarily on Doug, but they could not handle another rejection. The odd thing to me is they’ve got time to go look at a couple more candidates here to see if they’re interested, whoever that might be, before Kansas City plays this weekend. So, it’s not like they have to make this [move] today, except that it looks like it’s a panic move.”

Sounds like Baldinger is very low on Pederson as the new Eagles coach.
