Philadelphia Eagle defensive end Fletcher Cox has been a monster for the Birds. Cox just finished his fourth season with the team and has played in all but one game in his career. Cox has 22 sacks and 159 tackles in his short career.
The Eagles announced in April that they picked up the fifth-year option in 2016 for Fletcher Cox. That option will pay Cox $7,799,000 in 2016. Cox was asked if he’d be unhappy playing under that fifth-year option. Cox had the following to say via phillyvoice.com.
“Whenever they call us, they’ll call (my agent), and I’m pretty sure my agent will call me. But so far we haven’t been doing any talks. No matter what next year, I’m due the eight million, and whatever happens I’m pretty sure I’ll be here, and I want to finish my career here.”
Hopefully the Eagles will contact Cox about a contract extension because he’s one of the few players (if not the only player) on this team that is playing at an elite level. Cox can be a force on this team for years to come.
