Philadelphia Police Officers Reunite with Train Derailment Survivor They Rescued at the Eagles-Giants Game

A group of Philly police officers who saved a man from the Amtrak train that derailed in the city’s Port Richmond neighborhood in May, had the opportunity to meet with that man again on Sunday. Unlike the tragic event that brought the two sides together the first time, this was more of a celebratory meeting.

The Police officers were invited by the derailment survivor, Nicki Ritrivi, to the Eagles-Giants game on Sunday. Ritrivi, who is a Giants season ticket holder, invited Officers Dan Cosme, Tim Stephan and Clarence Manson to watch the two teams do battle in New York.

There were eleven deaths and over 200 injured in May when an Amtrak train that officials said was traveling 106 miles per hour (more than double the speed limit) derailed as it approached a sharp curve in the city’s Port Richmond section of Philadelphia. It was a tragic event, so it’s nice to see a positive story come from it.
