RG3 Reportedly Wants to Play for the Cowboys

Everyone knows that RG3’s time is up in Washington. Kirk Cousins has that team playing great heading into Wild-Card Weekend . Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports reported that he is expected to become available “via a salary dump,” noting that Griffin has the Cowboys atop his list of preferred destinations.

With Tony Romo suffering yet another season ending injury this season, the Cowboys clearly need some insurance for next year in case Romo isn’t 100 percent. Jerry Jones had some high praise for RG3 back in 2014. Here’s what Jones had to say to the NFL network via Yahoo Sports.

“I’m a fan of RG3. Right on this [Dallas] field two years ago, or maybe it was three seasons ago, he put on a show and had a great game that just floored me. And [the Redskins] won – and they won in large part because of his play at quarterback. I thought, ‘My goodness, we’re going to have to be playing this guy for years and years.’ So he’s got it. … Once you see a player do it, especially if you see him do it two or three times, you know he can do it. And of course he’s a driven young man. I’m a big admirer of RG3.”

Johnny Manziel has recently been linked to the Cowboys. Jones, who is a fan of players that break the law, might actually find Johnny Football more appealing after Manziel’s recent behavior. But, if Jones thinks that Manziel would be too risky, maybe he’d take a chance on RG3 and his bum knees, though that could be just as risky of an option.

Ian Rapoport reported back in December that Dallas would be a potential landing spot for Griffin.

Whoever the Cowboys pick to backup Romo have to be better than the slop that the Cowboys put on the field in Romo’s absence at the end of the season.
