You would think Alex Ovechkin’s Capitals – who own the best record in the NHL at 35-8-3 – would probably have some fun with the Flyers tonight in their prime time matchup on the NBC Sports Network. The Flyers have lost three games in a row and the Capitals are in the midst of of a season where its probably their best chance to win a Stanley Cup.
The good news for the Capitals isn’t that they’re the best team in the NHL, it’s that Mike Richards will get a chance to play against his former team once again. He’s played three games so far with the Capitals this season and has zero points. But Richards might break out tonight, because the trial set for tomorrow regarding him being charged for possession of a controlled substance while crossing the U.S./Canadian border has now been pushed back to February 25th.
So, we all know this means Richards gets a hat trick tonight and the Flyers lose their fourth in a row, right? Too bad the game isn’t in Philly as I’m sure Richards would be bombarded with sarcastic chants from the crowd. That would’ve at least been entertaining.

It’s good to see Richards back in the league. I hope he gets the help he needs before it is too late. He provided some of the best sports moments this city has seen the past ten years.
