Free Agency: Eagles Targets by Position

I have compiled a list of Free Agents to be that the Eagles would be wise to take a look at and consider signing. I will give a blurb on each player, but keep in mind, this does not mean I’m saying we sign all of them or any of them. This is a list, that from my knowledge and standpoint would be excellent matches for the Eagles for one reason or another. Lets get started!

Wide Receiver

Travis Benjamin: Cleveland Browns 5’10” 170 lbs

Benjamin put up 966 yards and five touchdowns in 2015, all while being in QB hell. He is a young guy that shows similarities to DeSean Jackson. He is smaller, but incredibly fast, can blow the top off a defense, and is a weapon in the return game. He just turned 26 years old and could be a great added piece that replaces Riley Cooper.

Fullback

Mike Tolbert: Carolina Panthers 5’9″ 250 lbs

Tolbert is a weapon. There’s just no other way to describe him. He can block, he runs, he receives, and he will punish defenders. Tolbert this past season had 410 all purpose yards, 4 touchdowns, and helped protect Cam Newton. This could be a great locker room presence, a dynamic player, and someone that could help protect an immobile QB (cough, Bradford, cough) or a young drafted arm (Wentz or Lynch).

Cornerback

Jerraud Powers: Arizona Cardinals 5’10” 187 lbs

Raise your hand if you want to continue to see EJ Biggers get beat? Yea, me neither. With an influx of youth and instability at the Corner position, the Eagles need capable guys that don’t need premier time, can mentor other players, and put up when they see the field. Enter Powers who played in the Arizona D that has a great secondary, is still youngish at 28, played in the SEC, and has done decently in the NFL. He won’t command a major deal, starters playing time, and can bring talent and leadership. Also, he can play on the inside and outside.

Safety

Bacarri Rambo: Buffalo Bills 6’0″ 211 lbs

This is a guy I loved coming out of Georgia (SEC talent again), and he hasn’t disappointed me in the pros. He is a hitting safety that will come down in the box. While he will get beat in coverage sometimes, he makes up for it in having a nose for big plays. Just this past season he had and interception, and 3 forced fumbles. This is the type of safety that sends a message when he hits you, and will pound you all day. This can be a young player (only 25) that can become one of the voices and statement players on a nasty defense. Plus, his name is Rambo.

Offensive Guard

Alex Boone: San Francisco 49ers 6’8″ 300 lbs

Boone is an oversized guard because he is a converted offensive tackle. Having been converted his skill set allows him to be effective in space as a pass-protecting guard. He has  length and lateral quickness to counter quicker defensive linemen while still having the strength to combat bigger defensive tackles. Also, he’s comfortable pulling behind the line of scrimmage in either direction. The other benefit, he can slide back out to Tackle if needed. That means he can be an answer in case of injury, struggling play, etc. I see him as a great fit!

So, there it is. My list of targets for the Eagles in Free Agency. Who do you think they should pursue?
