Do you want Sam Bradford back? That’s the question everyone’s been asking since the last snap of the season in the Meadowlands. Quite frankly, we’re all tired of it, I know. He’s probably not an elite quarterback, and many people think the Eagles can somehow acquire an elite quarterback this upcoming draft. I’m not so sure about that.
We’ve also covered various topics through the last few months regarding Bradford. Doug Pederson doesn’t exactly come across as the biggest Bradford fan from the interviews he’s done so far as the Eagles’ head coach, but that could be due to Bradford’s injury history and the fact that he isn’t necessarily a quarterback Pederson can groom from the start, which seems like what he’d like to do.
But, according to the guy who’s now calling the shots again, he thinks Bradford and the Eagles can reunite with a deal that works for both sides. Howie Roseman said on a podcast on the Eagles’ website that the Eagles want Bradford back. [PhillyMag via Pro Football Talk]
We’ve all been clear that we like Sam, and we’d like to have him back. It goes then between all of us and whether we can figure something out that makes sense on both sides. Sometimes we get into a situation where we sit here and it will make sense from the team’s perspective but when you’re talking about a negotiation, it’s also got to work for the other side and the player, and we understand that. But hopefully this will all work out and we’ll look at that depth chart when we line up here in July and be really excited about the position.”
When Roseman says, “We’ve all been clear that we like Sam,” I don’t think he’s really including Pederson.
