Did Doug Pederson Just Say Goodbye to Sam Bradford?

Well, it sounds like Doug Pederson knows exactly what he wants to do heading into next season. It sure as hell doesn’t sound like he wants Sam Bradford to be his quarterback, or he knows Bradford doesn’t want to be his quarterback. It was just two short days ago that Sal Paolantonio lit into Mike Missanelli for him not asking the Eagles’ coach if he talked to Bradford during his interview with him on 97.5 The Fanatic that same day.

Sal Pal sounded rather incensed at Mikey Miss that he wouldn’t ask the coach if he had spoken to his soon-to-be free agent quarterback. I mean, honestly, most of us would assume that discussion had already taken place, right? I guess not in Sal Pal’s world.

Which made this exchange between Pederson and CSN Philly’s Derrick Gunn even more interesting on Wednesday. Gunn asked Pederson which way he prefers to go in terms of his next quarterback for the Eagles. It certainly sounded like Pederson wasn’t committed to re-signing Bradford, and sounded excited at the opportunity to draft his own quarterback and groom him.

Derrick Gunn: In your time with Andy Reid, you watched him draft his franchise quarterback in Donovan [McNabb]. He goes to Kansas City – he acquires an Alex Smith. Which method would you prefer?

Doug Pederson: Well, I think the thing with going to Kansas City is we needed a quarterback. We needed one. So the immediate fix was to find the top available free agent. I think in our situation [with the Eagles], we may not have to go that route. Therefore, the draft, there’s some good quarterbacks in this draft. I’d love to be able to pick one up, develop him, and eventually he becomes your guy over time. Several ways to skin a cat, but I think in our situation, I think we’ve got a quarterback that’s on our roster right now… if he’s our guy that we can win with.”

Hmmm, that sure as hell doesn’t sound like a ringing endorsement for Mr. Bradford. Here’s the video below, courtesy of CSN Philly. Fast forward to the 1:01 mark.

Now, clearly, Pederson had to be talking about Bradford as being the quarterback on his roster. Despite him hitting free agency in March, he’s still technically on the Eagles’ roster until then. There’s no chance he was talking about Mark Sanchez, right? RIGHT!? Either way, it sounds like the Bradford era in Philly is over.

Love the site, you guys are also good twitter follows. I have one request. Is there any way to tell the site viewer how many comments are on each story? I like clicking on the stories with lively comments threads.

Good site, fellas. You are out-hustling that snarky, self-serving, T-shirt maker over at CB who has no sources, can’t break a story, can’t write a post without making it about him and has some db hipster with 8th grade English skills and apparently no drive or desire to amount to much in life as his lackey.

Great website guys. Your stories read much better, and are clearly more thought out than CB. You have another convert!

Eagles hiring of doug pederson might be one of the worst coaching hires in all of sports history in any sport period. The only one comparable is ray Handley steve spurrier or johnny davis

I agree. This site has by far eclipsed that dumpster fire CB. I especially like how I don’t have to take a survey to view this site and how it’s not inundate with dumb ads. I also agree if you could do a comment counter, that would be helpful. On a side note, that guy Colin Good looks like a child molester.
