The Eagles Cut DeMeco Ryans

The Eagles have just announced they’ve cut DeMeco Ryans. With the re-signing of Mychal Kendricks last year, the emergence of Jordan Hicks, and the likes of Connor Barwin, Brandon Graham and Kiko Alonso (!), Ryans’ days as an Eagle certainly were numbered.

Ryans was set to earn a base salary of $2.5 million in the 2016 season.

Ryans’ acquisition was quite a move by Andy Reid, who finally realized that any old linebacker couldn’t fit the bill in the NFL. When Ryans became an Eagles, the defense’s identity changed for the better.

Here’s more from the Eagles’ website:

The two-time Pro Bowl and All-Pro linebacker was acquired in a trade with the Houston Texans in 2012. In his four seasons with the Eagles, Ryans posted 458 tackles, 22 tackles for loss, five sacks and five interceptions in 54 regular season games. More importantly, Ryans was a leader and a role model for the young players to epitomize.

In his first season with the Eagles, Ryans led the team with 148 tackles, including 16 tackles for loss. He followed that up with arguably his best season as a pro with career highs in tackles (177), sacks (4) and interceptions (2). It was the sixth time in his career that he eclipsed the 100-tackle plateau. He was also an ironman over the two seasons starting all 32 regular season games and playing a combined 2,202 snaps on defense including all 1,045 in the 2012 campaign.

Ryans was on his way to another 100-tackle season in 2014 when he ruptured his Achilles tendon in his return to Houston and missed the final eight games of the year. He rebounded to play 14 games in 2015 (13 starts) and had 68 tackles and an interception.

  2. Dr. Marvin Monroe

I know a guy who will sell you 499 of them for $3.

He also has a cool Sidney Crosby shirt that I unveiled the day after the Flyers were eliminated from the playoffs. And something called “Big Jah”. I have no fucking clue what it is supposed to be. A boxer maybe.

Could someone direct me to where I could find a low quality, $35 dollar (shipping included) “we’re from Philadelphia and we fight” T shirt?

Can’t determine if your favorite Flyer is Sean Couturier or Claude Giroux?

Tired of buying shirts featuring your favorite player only to have him traded the following week?

You need the Wolf of Broad Street t-shirt. It doubles as both a Claude Giroux and a Sean Couturier shirt.

Also, have any need for a Mone Davis t-shirt featuring a Microsoft Clip Art picture of a girl playing baseball on it?
