A lot of Eagles content gets published each day, so here’s a recap of your Eagles news from this past week.
Philadelphia loves its fullbacks.
Whether it’s churning out those tough yards on 3rd-and-short, catching the ball in the flat, leading the way as a blocker or contributing in blitz pickup, they don’t shy away from the tough, blue-collar work.
That’s the city in the nutshell!
The Eagles family lost another member too soon this past week. Kevin Turner passed away Thursday after a near six-year battle with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. He was 46. Leading the way for Ricky Watters, Charlie Garner and Duce Staley, Turner was one of my favorites growing up. He’ll be missed.
RIP.
On to the links:
Several former teammates spoke about Turner, who played for the Eagles from 1995-99 after originally being drafted by the New England Patriots in 1992.
I’m already sick of the Philadelphia Eagles trading up to the No. 1 pick rumors. It’s going to be a long month! It appears that the Eagles really like North Dakota State quarterback Carson Wentz.
And speaking of the upcoming draft, it appears that most Eagles fans would want Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott. I like him, but he wouldn’t be my first choice and will his drug-habit rumors affect his draft stock?
Doug Pederson, Jeffrey Lurie, Andy Reid and Chip Kelly all spoke at the owners meetings this week. Pederson talked about possibly playing some up-tempo, why he chose Jim Schwartz to be his defensive coordinator and Jason Peters’ possible move to guard down the line among a plethora of topics at the NFC Coaches Break Wednesday. Lurie said that Howie Roseman has done at “outstanding” job s0 far this offseason and Reid stated that Pederson “knows what he needs to do.” Chip was his usual Chip self, blaming everybody but himself.
There were nine rule changes which passed during the owners meetings, including the abolishment of the chop block and moving touchbacks to the 25-yard line. I love the chop block rule, the Eagles don’t need anything happening to Fletcher Cox and with the newly instituted touchback rule it appears the NFL is moving closer and closer to eliminating the kickoff.
The Kansas City Chiefs appealed the Jeremy Maclin tampering ruling Monday. How about you give us some picks and we’ll call it even? The Eagles are still trying to replace his production, but got a step closer with the acquisition of Rueben Randle.
