The NFL announced seven rule changes on Tuesday, including the elimination of the chop block.
It was already forbidden on passing plays, but was still legal on some running plays. A chop block is when an offensive player attempts to undercut a defensive player while he is engaged above the waist with another offensive player.
FINALLY! No Chop blocks! @NFL got this 1 right! Now see about getting to the bottom of that mysterious catch rule! lol

While the defensive players might be thrilled, former New York Giants and Kansas City Chiefs guard Geoff Schwartz is not.
The best way to get a DT to not hold us on double teams, is a chop block. Now there's nothing to stop them. Fun times.

There are dirty chop blocks. Those have been illegal. But legal ones are vital to the run game. And very rarely does it injure someone.
