Party Like It’s 1999: Our 2016 NFL Draft Player Rankings and Mock Draft

The 2016 NFL Draft is finally here, but it feels like 1999 so let’s party like it!

RIP Prince.

The Philadelphia Eagles are drafting at No. 2 just like they did in 1999 when they took Donovan McNabb. Another quarterback will be selected at No. 2 Thursday night. I don’t believe the fans will boo the pick, but until the Eagles traded up to No. 2, they wanted to draft Ezekiel Elliott. In 1999, the people’s choice was another running back by the name of Ricky Williams.

Andy Reid is Doug Pederson’s pupil. Pederson brought in an experienced staff just like Big Red, which is led by an established defensive coordinator. Pederson’s stop-gap quarterbacks are in place, Sam Bradford and Chase Daniel. Pederson was the bridge to McNabb in 1999.

So many similarities, hopefully we’ll see some of the same results in the next few years.

Since it is draft day, and most of you are in draft mode, check out our NFL Draft player rankings over the last few weeks.
