The Flyers Are in the Hunt for One of College Hockey’s Best Players

Yesterday was a hard day for all of Philly sports fans and our community. However, today brings some news that would absolutely have Ed Snider smiling ear-to-ear. The word around the ice is that the Flyers are very much in the hunt for one of college hockey’s top free agents, who also just put on a very memorable performance in the Frozen Four. That player is the University of North Dakota’s Forward, Drake Caggiula.

Drake, who is 21, just wrapped up his final season at UND in a very impressive way. Caggiula scored 25 goals and 26 assist for 51 points over 39 games, and helped lead his team to a national championship, and was named the MVP of the tournament. Who was the last Flyers player to do that? The one and only, Shayne Gostisbehere.

In his career Caggiula totaled 62 goals and 65 assists for a total of 127 points in 162 games, all while maintaining a +57 rating.

Caggiula went undrafted in the NHL draft last year and because of that has his choice of any team with which to sign.

So, what would we have to look forward to? Sick hands and playmaking ability.

Oh, and he can also lay a hit here and there.

Let’s hope Caggiula wants to reunite with Dave Hakstol, who was his coach at UND, and with whom he had a very good three years.
