The Tennessee Titans Have Reportedly Received a “Solid Offer” for the No. 1 Pick

The Tennesse Titans reportedly have a “solid offer” for the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft later this month.

Could that team be the Philadelphia Eagles?

Peter King of TheMMQB.com said in his weekly column Monday that a personnel person told him the Titans are still pondering a potential move down the draft, but the offer will have to be “sweetened” if they are going to pull the trigger. The package, however, will not be as steep as the one the Washington Redskins put together in order to move up and draft Robert Griffin III.

“No player (in this year’s draft) is worth that,” an evaluator said.

The Eagles, of course, would trade up to No. 1 so they can take a quarterback, who will most likely be North Dakota State’s Carson Wentz.

One personnel man said over the weekend that the Titans have a definite solid offer for the pick and, if it’s sweetened, could be persuaded to go down a few spots. Which team? Philly’s the common thought, because Roseman trades, and going from eight to one is onerous but possible in terms of price tag.

King spoke with 10 executives who were polled on a couple of draft topics. Seven of the 10 speculated that Wentz will be the top quarterback taken, while the other three went with California’s Jared Goff. The Los Angeles Rams got the most votes of the team most likely to trade into the top five with four, followed by the Eagles (three), San Francisco 49ers (one) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (one).

According to the NFL Draft trade chart, the No. 1 pick is worth 3,000 points, while the Eagles’ eighth selection is 1,400. I also don’t think they’ll be picking in the top 10 again next year. Let’s say they finish in the middle of the pack next season, the 16th pick is 1,000 points. Obviously Philadelphia doesn’t have a second-rounder in this draft, so to get to about 3,000 it would take either its second-round pick next year or both of its thirds (205 and 195 points) this year to reach that number.

That’s two firsts and a second or two firsts and two thirds, but this is just speculation.

We’ll find out if the Eagles are going to move up in two and a half weeks.

How “sweet” would that potential offer be?
