Porn Site Bans North Carolina Users after Anti-LGBT Law Is Passed

Since yesterday afternoon, the porn website XHamster.com made its site’s services unavailable to any user with a North Carolina IP address. If they attempt to visit the site, they will only see a black screen rather than its usual homepage.

XHamster.com spokesman, Mike Kulich, told The Huffington Post:

We have spent the last 50 years fighting for equality for everyone and these laws are discriminatory which XHamster.com does not tolerate…Judging by the stats of what you North Carolinians watch, we feel this punishment is a severe one. We will not standby and pump revenue into a system that promotes this type of garbage. We respect all sexualities and embrace them.

XHamster.com noted that as long as House Bill 2 (which essentially prevents cities and counties from passing laws protecting LGBT rights) is in place, North Carolina residents will have to take their porn viewing habits elsewhere.

Kulich ironically added:

Back in March, we had 400,000 hits for the term ‘Transsexual’ from North Carolina alone. People from that state searched ‘Gay’ 319,907 times.

If only North Carolina lawmakers were as open-minded to society as their citizens are to porn…
