Flyers fans gave a standing ovation to the team after they lost yesterday. It was a good response to what had happened last Monday night.

Dario Saric is telling teammates he’ll be in Philly next season.

Adrian Fedkiw gives you the math on trading Sam Bradford. Also, why trading up to No. 2 makes Wentz.

Carson Wentz on being the face of the franchise: “It think it’s cool.” We’ll have more on that later.

I kind of dug Derrick Gunn going in on Sam Bradford on Quick Slants.

Goodnight, sweet Prince.

Saturday Night Live held a special tribute to Prince this weekend, and it was awesome. It was a compilation of his performances on the show, skits of him played by Fred Armisen, and a fantastic never-before-seen video of him jamming out at the SNL 40th anniversary show after-party. Here’s a video of that performance, which is a different angle than what was shown on SNL. [H/T to Inverse.com]

I suggest you check out this SNL episode On Demand whenever you can.

Here’s his last performance in Atlanta earlier this month.

Philly soul singer, Billy Paul, also passed away this past weekend. It appears he died of cancer that he was recently diagnosed with. NBC Philadelphia has a good write up on him.

Born December 1, 1935 in Philadelphia, Paul began his music career at the age of 11 when he appeared on local radio station WPEN. He also attended the West Philadelphia Music School and the Granoff School of Music where he received his vocal training.

Early in his career, Paul performed at several clubs and college campuses with several jazz and soul music legends, including Charlie “Bird” Parker, Nina Simone, Miles Davis and Roberta Flack. After serving in the Army, where he was stationed with Elvis Presley, Paul released his debut album “Feelin’ Good at the Cadillac Club” in 1968 on legendary producer and Philly soul pioneer Kenny Gamble’s Gamble Records label.

Paul gained his greatest success when he released his 1972 single “Me and Mrs. Jones,” which was written and produced by Gamble and Huff. The song was the number one single on the Billboard Hot 100 and R&B singles chart and received a Grammy Award. The song also received newfound attention decades later when singer Michael Buble released a cover version in 2007.

In all, Paul released 15 albums(not counting a 1973 reissue of “Feelin’ Good at the Cadillac Club”) between 1968 and 1988. While he never again matched the mainstream success of “Me and Mrs. Jones,” he is recognized by many as a pioneer and important figure in soul music, known for his socially conscious lyrics. According to Paul’s website, Questlove of the Roots once compared him to Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder, calling him, “one of the criminally unmentioned proprietors of socially conscious post-revolution ’60s civil rights music.”

Steph Curry suffered a sprained knee after he slipped in the Warriors’ win yesterday against the Rockets. He’ll have an MRI today.

He apparently was crying afterwards.

Russell Westbrook was fined $25k for yelling an expletive at a fan during the Thunder’s playoff game against the Mavericks on Saturday.

His teammate, Kevin Durant, was also fined $15k for a Flagrant 2 foul on the Mavs’ Justin Anderson after elbowing him.

Ex-Patriot nose tackle, Ron Brace, passed away this weekend.

At least Philly fans didn’t hop on the ice and destroy a referee, right?

Would the Eagles trade Sam Bradford to the Jets for a second-round pick?

Teams are now hoping that UCLA linebacker, Myles Jack, who was slated to be one of the high picks of the draft, may drop to them now that Albert Breer reports Jack has a chondral defect in his knee, a type of cartilage injury. I don’t see that happening, though.

The Carolina Panthers rescinded the franchise tag on Josh Norman last Wednesday, and Norman found a new home in Washington two days later, signing a five-year, $75 million deal. That means the Eagles will have to face him twice, and that’ll be a real test. But, it’s hilarious that Eli Manning is already trying to diminish any stories that are 100% definitely being sought after by reporters between Odell Beckham, who clashed with Norman and gave him some pretty vicious headshots last season during the Giants-Panthers game, and Norman.

It’s not going to be a battle between Odell and Josh,” Manning said, via Tom Rock ofNewsday. “We’re not going to make that a point. It’s about winning the football game, doing our job and doing it well. We’ll game-plan for him just like all the other corners, but we have to be sure not to make it a bigger deal so it doesn’t escalate into something that’s not about football.”

Too bad the Eagles don’t play either Washington or New York after they play each other. One of them is bound to get suspended, right? Although, the do play Washington one week before they’re scheduled to play the Panthers, so maybe Norman will be overlooking Jordan Matthews running past him for five touchdowns and 329 yards.

Here’s video of the entire public celebration of Ed Snider’s life at the Wells Fargo Center this past Thursday.

This week’s edition of The Straight Shooters discusses the death of Chyna, and not only what she meant to women in wrestling during her career, but how impressive being the first female to legitimately compete with men in the ring was. We also talk about how she was such an underrated part of the Attitude Era in the late ’90s and early ’00s. We also talk about Samoa Joe’s surprising NXT Championship win at a house show on Thursday night.
