Watch Rangers Defenseman Dan Boyle Unleash a Profanity-Laced Tirade at a Reporter

The Rangers were eliminated from the playoffs in embarrassing fashion on Saturday, and the toughest media in the country was at it once again. Dan Boyle, former San Jose Shark, apparently wasn’t a very good player for the Rangers during his tenure there, and the media let him know about it.

On Tuesday morning, Rangers players met with the media. Boyle had some not-so-nice words for Larry Brooks of the New York Post. The two went back-and-forth for a while before things eventually calmed down.

Boyle is rumored to be retiring after the season, as he’ll be an unrestricted free agent. He’s also 39 years old. So, it’s probably the end of the road for him. Hey, at least it wasn’t a Flyer going nuts on the media amirite? Watch the tirade below.

Here’s a transcript of the exchange, courtesy of CSN Bay Area:

Boyle: “I don’t want him here.”

Reporter: “What? You know, the feeling’s mutual, man.”

Boyle: “Perfect. Perfect. I want you out of here. Nobody likes you. Nobody respects you. Just so you know.”

Reporter: “OK.”

Boyle: “At least I’m leaving here with the respect of my teammates. Instead of [expletive] someone like you, who tries to bury somebody. That’s all you do. It’s not a critique. I’m telling you I don’t want you here. I have no respect for you. I want you to get the [expletive] out.”

Reporter: “I don’t care what you think.”

Boyle: “I can [expletive] tell you to get the [expletive] out if I want to!”

Reporter: “You can, but I don’t have to listen to you.”

Boyle: “Yeah, ya do! I want him out. And that other [expletive] clown, Brett, or whatever the [expletive] his name is. Where’s he at?”

Ranger staff: “We’re done, guys. We’re done.”

Boyle: “Everyone else is fine.”

Ranger staff: “No, we’re done.”

Reporter: “You know if you had asked me politely, I might have.”

Boyle: “POLITELY? Why would I be polite with you? Are you kidding me?”

Reporter: “Why don’t you grow up?”

Boyle: [Laughs] “Grow up!? I just want you to leave. That’s all.”

Reporter: “Well I’ll walk over here.”

Boyle: “I just want you to leave. I don’t want to see you.”

Reporter: “I know. We’ve been through this. I’m not leaving.”

Boyle: “Is it not my right?”

Brett Cyrgalis, also from the New York Post and who Boyle was referring to above, responded thusly:
