Catching up with the Birds: The City of Winners

A lot of Eagles content gets published each day, so here’s a recap of your Eagles news from this past week.

Things are starting to look sunny again in Philadelphia.

The Philadelphia Eagles traded up to No. 2 in the NFL Draft and selected Carson Wentz last month, the upstart Philadelphia Flyers miraculously made the playoffs, the Philadelphia Phillies are somehow over .500 in late May and just this past week, the Philadelphia 76ers landed the No. 1 pick in June’s NBA Draft.

I know I’m the Eagles reporter, but I just wanted to talk Sixers really quickly because I want to get on my hands and knees and bow down to Sam Hinkie. If Ben Simmons, who Philly is being rumored of taking, turns out to be a superstar in this league and the Sixers turn into perennial contenders year in and year out, then the process was a shining success.

Long live the process!

Remember when all four major Philly sports teams made their respective finals in 1980. Who knows, maybe the same thing will happen again in a few years.

The city of winners baby!

On to the links:

Sam Bradford rescinded his trade demands last week and spoke about it Tuesday and quite frankly his press conference made me sick. Despite all the Bradford shenanigans, he’s still Doug Pederson’s number one guy.

Bradford and Wentz met for the first time this week and Joe Conklin portrayed the meeting between them in this hilarious audio clip. Howie Roseman joined Rich Eisen on The Rich Eisen Show Monday and talked about the situation with Bradford, Wentz and more.

Speaking of Wentz, it’s like he could do no wrong right now, the city absolutely adores and can’t get enough of him. He’s saying all the right things and Philly is soaking it all up!

Darren Sproles hasn’t been an attendant at voluntary workouts because the Eagles received trade inquiries about him during the NFL Draft and he wants to stay away until everything is sorted out.

The Eagles signed Matt Tobin to a two-year contract Monday as part of a flurry of roster moves and in other offensive line news, Pederson named Allen Barbre the starting left guard.

The Sporting News compiled a list of the top 40 most hated players of all-time and five former Eagles made the list.
