Even Heath Evans is taking shots.
Ouch!
Evans might not be liked very much among the Eagles fanbase, but the NFL Network analyst was 100 percent spot-on about his rant on Sam Bradford’s trade demands during Monday’s Total Access.
“Sam I was your biggest fan,” Evans said. “Now you’re pulling this nonsense. “I’m disappointed in you. Solly (Solomon Wilcots) talking about going in there wanting to compete. I don’t know who’s gotten in your ear, but it’s the wrong people. You’ve lost something that I believe made you great in this league.”
Bradford is complaining after signing a two-year, $36 million contract with $22 million guaranteed when the free-agent market for him was bare. The Los Angeles Rams and Eagles picked quarterbacks Jared Goff and Carson Wentz with the first two selections in the NFL Draft mostly because Bradford wasn’t “the man” at those locations. Yet, Bradford wants to be “the man” somewhere else and leave town.
Bradford’s agent Tom Condon said Bradford isn’t coming in until June 7th for mandatory mini camp.
“You had your opportunity to prove it this year,” Evans said. “Now you’re going to let a second overall pick win this position because you’re not willing to show up. I wouldn’t want you as my starting quarterback anymore because you showed me you’re not willing to compete.”
It appears more and more likely that Bradford will have no choice but to play for Philadelphia this season. The Eagles have remained firm in their stance of wanting Bradford to be the starting quarterback for the 2016 season. The trade discussions with the Denver Broncos and Eagles went nowhere last week too.
The Broncos were one of three teams interested in trading for Bradford last week in the lead up until the NFL Draft, but the Broncos were the only team without a starting quarterback. Denver wound up moving up in the first round to select Memphis Paxton Lynch at No. 26.
