For some odd reason, teams in the NBA seem to be fascinated with Mike D’Antoni. For the last several years, any time a coach has been fired, D’Antoni’s name is floated around as one of the lead candidates for that position and I have no clue why. His record as a head coach is record is 455-426. That’s nothing special at all. He’s always been a favorite of Jerry Colangelo, however, since he’s worked with him back in their Phoenix Suns days.
D’Antoni’s name already popped up in the offseason with there being talk of him possibly heading back to Phoenix. Now according to Marc Stein of ESPN, he’s set to interview for the Houston Rockets head coaching position sometime this week.
ESPN sources say Sixers associate head coach Mike D'Antoni is interviewing for the Houston Rockets' coaching job this week

The interesting thing I don’t think that the Colangelos and Sixers ownership would let D’Antoni walk out of this organization. I said right from the start that D’Antoni was brought to Philly for a reason. I can totally see the Sixers screwing Brett Brown out of a job just to keep their boy here, despite them saying otherwise. We’ve seen crazier stuff happen. This wouldn’t surprise me at all.
I’m very excited to see what next year holds for the Sixers, but it would be a total disgrace if Brown gets a raw deal here, especially for an average coach like D’Antoni.
