Carson Wentz Practices with the Eagles for the First Time

The first thing Carson Wentz plans on doing with his new rookie contract is pay his dad back for the pickup he bought.

He’ll have plenty of money for that.

Wentz had his second press conference in Philadelphia and took the practice field for the first time as an Eagle during rookie mini camp on Friday. He signed a four-year deal with the Eagles Thursday and according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the contract is worth $26.6 million and includes a $17.6 million signing bonus.

“I really wanted to get the pen to the paper quick,” Wentz said. “I’m glad I got it done yesterday.”

As long as the Eagles are winning, Wentz doesn’t care if he’s starting, backing up or playing third-string quarterback. He doesn’t know how much he’ll play this season.

“We haven’t talked a lot about it (starting). We’ll just kind of see what happens, but I’m really excited to get out there and compete on the field,” Wentz said.

Wentz admitted that he has not talked to Sam Bradford while he’s been in Philadelphia, but does expect to see him Monday. Bradford had been demanding a trade since finding out the Eagles traded up to No. 2 in the draft. He returned to the Eagles Monday.

“Personally, I don’t think there’ll be tension,” Wentz said. “I think we’ll have a really good working relationship.”
