Ben Simmons Just Wants to Be the Number One Overall Draft Pick

There have been many rumors surrounding the Sixers, Ben Simmons and Brandon Ingram. Who will the Sixers take? Do the top two players in this year’s draft even want to play in Philly? You know, the usual.

The Sixers worked out Ingram on Monday at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, and they won’t work out Simmons because Simmons isn’t going to workout for any team. So does that spell doom for the Sixers if they really want Simmons?

According to Simmons, no. In an appearance on Australian radio show The Grill Team, Simmons said that he doesn’t really care where he goes. And for Sixers fans, that’s actually good news.

For me, I just want to be the #1 player [selected],” Simmons replied. “It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity to go first. If I go first, it’s awesome.
 
“I’ve worked so hard to be that guy [to build around] and go to a team like that. Wherever I go, I’ll be lucky.”

Sounds like Simmons has a good head on his shoulders and understands the process. I’m guessing he’s not going to want to workout with any team because if he has a hiccup, he might not go number one overall. But I think it’s safe to say the Sixers have their heart set on him.
