It took less than a few hours for the controversy cloud to hover over the Eagles following the third and final day of Philadelphia’s mandatory three-day mini camp last Thursday afternoon.
It might be a long six weeks before the Eagles take the field again for training camp in late July.
Eagles second-year wide receiver Nelson Agholor was accused of raping a dancer at Cheerleaders Gentlemen’s Club on Thursday. Since then, NJ.com’s Eliot Shorr-Parks reported that the Agholor incident was a dispute over money and that Agholor did nothing wrong, according to a source. Connor Barwin and Fletcher Cox, who were with Agholor at Cheerleader’s, have since released statements.
Eagles head coach Doug Pederson commented on the matter among other things Monday at the annual Ron Jaworski Celebrity Golf Challenge at Blue Heron Pines Golf Club.
As expected, Pederson didn’t say much of anything.
“I’m not going to comment on it,” he said. “It’s an ongoing investigation, so I can’t say anything.”
Pederson did, however, state that his players need to make “smart decisions” off the field.
“Things are going to happen,” he said. “They do have six weeks. They’re grown men and they need to make smart decisions. We all learn from our choices and our decision that we make in life. There’s always a consequence for every decision we make in life.”
We’ll continue to keep you updated on the Agholor allegations as we hear more.
