The cast of ESPN’s First Take talked about Carson Wentz and the Eagles today and asked the question, “Did the Eagles make a mistake trading up for Carson Wentz?”
Dumb question. We all know the answer to it. But, hey, this time, Stephen A. Smith made some sense in backing up the Eagles’ decision to draft Wentz, while Max Kellerman took the opposite side. Sure, it’s all purely up for debate and it might not be their true views. Keeping Wentz on the sideline for the entire season isn’t unprecedented, so I’m not sure why there’s a huge uproar about having him start in the regular season.
I think Howie Roseman and Doug Pederson have been pretty transparent in their plan for Wentz and trying to remain competitive this season with Sam Bradford behind center. It doesn’t not make sense. But some people just don’t want to buy it for whatever reason. It’s the preseason and people are already calling Wentz injury-prone. Get out of here.
Hopefully Bradford stays healthy this season.
