Signed to a one-year, prove-it deal, Rueben Randle hasn’t shown much so far, but Randle is determined to prove his doubters wrong.
Randle doesn’t drop a lot of passes, just three last year and four the season prior, but it’s his inconsistency which made the Giants feel like he was expendable. That lack of consistency seemed to scare other teams away as well.
The 25-year-old spoke on that.
“I feel like I get read wrong because I do a lot of things naturally and it doesn’t seem like I’m giving much effort,” Randle said via ESPN. “If I go out there and make a one-handed catch and make it look effortless, I get praised for it, but if I do all these other things effortlessly, it’s like I’m not giving much effort.
Randle has shown the ability to make those tough catches in traffic, but then there were those no-show games. He has above-average speed for a 6’2 receiver and runs solid routes, but is somewhat limited athletically and doesn’t do anything great. He relies on winning at the catch point.
With Jordan Matthews currently out due to injury, I wanted to see out more out of Randle. Maybe he’ll start proving himself Saturday night when the Eagles face the Colts in Indianapolis.
