The hype surrounding the Sixers for the upcoming season continues to grow. With Ben Simmons ready to play right away, Joel Embiid being healthy finally, and Jahlil Okafor and/or Nerlens Noel taking the court, this basketball season is going to be fun.
Sixers CEO Scott O’Neil thinks so, too. As he should. He joined the crew at 97.3 ESPN, Mike Gill, Pete Thompson and Michael Kaskey-Blomain, during the Sixers Beach Bash in Avalon yesterday. And he said the Sixers are number one in the league right now in new full-season ticket sales.
“Our fan base has grown. I’ve been here three years and our fan base continues to grow. This summer, we’re actually number one in the league in new full-season ticket sales. And we’ll likely be in the top 12 or 13 in full-seasons in the entire league.
“It has as much to do with the excitement of Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid likely playing, Dario Saric coming, Sergio Rodriguez, all these additions … But it really says more about this market and the Philadelphia 76er fan base. There is nothing like this in the world.”
Sure, it’s only August, but that’s pretty awesome. Last year, the team would’ve have dreamed being in the top 12-13 in the league for new full-season ticket sales. The season doesn’t start until the end of October, but the interest in the Sixers is very, very real.
