Outspoken Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce always tells it like it is. This past week, he held true to that reputation, saying the trade Howie Roseman made to acquire a first-round pick and at least a fourth-rounder for Sam Bradford was a “no-brainer.”
Kelce and Beau Allen made an appearance on the WIP Morning Show earlier this week to discuss the Bradford trade.
“Just like everybody else I was shocked when I first heard the news,” Kelce said. “It’s not very often that your starting quarterback gets traded right before the season starts. But after I’ve had more time to sit down and think about it, you understand why the Eagles did it and how it made sense for both sides. I’ve come to really understand why they did it, especially with where Carson [Wentz] is at and obviously where the Eagles feel that he is at. I think it was a no-brainer from the Eagles’ standpoint.”
Kelce also discussed what the offensive line needs to do to help out the No. 2 overall pick Carson Wentz.
“We gotta be able to make sure that we’re keeping him clean, in terms of blocking, and then at the same time since he’s relying on me for a lot of the calls and stuff like that, we’re relying on each other really, just gonna try and keep that communication open. And keep letting him know there’s a reason that the Eagles picked him this high. He’s a damn good quarterback and he’s gonna prove it to everybody this Sunday against Cleveland,” he said.
Kelce and Beau Allen made an appearance on the show to promote a night of Karaoke with Beau Allen for the Eagles Charitable Foundation. You can listen to the interview below.
