Radko Gudas Won’t Play in the World Cup of Hockey Due to a Wrist Injury

The Flyers are well-represented in this year’s World Cup of Hockey tournament. Eight players were selected to participate for their native countries/continents, which include: Claude Giroux (Canada), Jake Voracek, Radko Gudas, and Michal Neuvirth (Czech Republic), Mark Streit and Pierre-Édouard Bellemare (Europe) and Sean Couturier and Shayne Gostisbehere representing North America’s under-23 team.

Radko Gudas, however, won’t be playing. He’s suffering from a wrist injury, according to Vaclav Jachin of hokeh.cz. Gudas signed a four-year extension with the Flyers back in June.

Let’s hope Gudas’ injury isn’t serious enough to keep him out of regular season play. I guess. The World Cup of Hockey begins September 17.

UPDATE: Flyers general manager Ron Hextall doesn’t think the injury will keep him out of the regular season.

“Radko Gudas sustained an upper body injury during his offseason training and will be evaluated on a week to week basis. We are hopeful and optimistic that he will not miss any regular season games.”

Speaking of hockey, are you ready for the Flyers’ season? The ice has been laid at the Wells Fargo Center.
