There’s no Carson Wentz on Sunday.
Noooooooooo!!!
It’s OK, I’ve got your fix here with the rookie Philadelphia Eagles quarterback’s top 10 throws of the year so far.
Rarely do you see rookie quarterbacks developed this quickly, and an FCS one no less. Wentz has been in complete command at the line of scrimmage and is cool as a cucumber in the pocket. I can’t remember a rookie starter look this impressive. He has five touchdowns and still no turnovers on the season. His mind is lightning quick and already has the most pass attempts without an interception to start his career. He’s completed 64.7 percent of his passes for 769 yards for a quarterback rating of 103.8.
On to the list.
10. Wentz beats the Browns before the snap
Wentz made this play happen prior to taking the snap. He recognized a single-high safety and man coverage across the board, so he changed the play. He went from under center to shotgun and delivered a 28-yard completion to Jordan Matthews.
9. Wentz’s 12-yard touchdown to Matthews
Matthews burned William Gay from the slot on an in-breaking route for the score to cap off the lengthy drive.
Jordan Matthew burns William Gay, doesn’t drop this one. Love the TD celebration!! pic.twitter.com/8YCEtVAr35

8. Wentz converts on fourth down
This was from the Cleveland game. I loved Doug Pederson going for it on 4th down and having confidence in Wentz after Matthews dropped the ball on third down, but Zach Ertz had his back on fourth down.
Ertz’s got Matthews’ back. And how about Doug going for it on fourth down, showing confidence in Wentz pic.twitter.com/ZA53osYyjF

7. Wentz to DGB on 3rd-and-long
This is a beautiful throw to an in-breaking Dorial Green-Beckham on a 3rd-and-12 against the Steelers. He’s balanced in the pocket and fires a seed to DGB in stride.

6. Wentz threads the needle
The All-22 game film in the second clip of this throw exemplifies just how great it was on this 22-yard completion to Matthews on a 3rd-and-9 against the Browns early in the third quarter.
5. Wentz’s first completion
This was more about Zach Ertz and the full extension he had on this ridiculous one-handed snag, but Wentz still lofted the ball beautifully and allowed the tight end to make a play on the back-shoulder throw for a gain of 14.
Wentz’s first completion, c’mon baby make it Ertz so good!! Wow what a catch!! pic.twitter.com/e5ej8hdpuW

4. Wentz into triple coverage
Flushed to his left, Wentz threw a dart into coverage late in the second quarter against the Bears for an 18-yard completion to Nelson Agholor. The catch helped the Eagles get into field-goal range and they took a 9-7 edge into the halftime locker room.
Into triple coverage, no problem. A rope from Carson. pic.twitter.com/6GumhMsi6t

3. Wentz’s first career touchdown
Wentz showcased his pristine ball placement and trajectory in the Eagles’ opener against the Cleveland Browns. This 19-yard score to Matthews was Wentz’s first NFL touchdown.
Wentz’s 1st TD pass!!! Remains to be seen if Wentz is top 20, but already top 3 of lump trash CLE has had since 99 pic.twitter.com/p7SJ9z1zHG

2. Wentz’s 35-yard touchdown to Agholor
Wentz’s dime to Agholor was his second career touchdown. You want to talk about dropping it into the bucket?

1. Wentz’s 73-yard touchdown to Darren Sproles
Carson Wentz effortlessly side-stepped Stephon Tuitt in the pocket and then came the improv routine. Wentz rolled to his right and kept his eyes downfield before flipping the ball to Darren Sproles, who darted up the right sideline. Most quarterbacks take off and run in that situation, but not the ahead-of-the-curve Wentz.
What I love about Wentz, he escapes the pocket but keeps his eyes downfield. Some Big Ben-like improv, 73-yard TD to Sproles!! 20-3 Birds!! pic.twitter.com/ky6K3SsJWr
