Joel Embiid Posts Double-Double in Blowout Loss to the Wizards

Wow, just wow!

Joel Embiid had 11 points and 12 rebounds in what might’ve been his most impressive outing to date, although the Philadelphia 76ers were blown out by the Washington Wizards 100-79 in preseason action on Thursday night.

Embiid was 2-of-5 from the floor, missed his lone 3-point attempt and sunk 7-of-8 foul shots for the Sixers, who fell to 1-4 on the preseason. From what I saw, he pretty much cleared the defensive glass every time down the floor when he was in the game.

Embiid played 13 minutes after Sixers head coach Brett Brown stated Thursday afternoon that he’d play 15. The 2014 No. 3 overall pick had seen 12 minutes of action in each of his first four games.

This follow-up dunk from Embiid made everyone’s jaws drop at the Verizon Center.

Jerami Grant led the Sixers with 14 points, but Dario Saric struggled again, scoring six points on 1-of-8 shooting and 0-of-3 from beyond the arc. Saric began 4-of-6 from deep, but has missed his last six attempts from long distance.

Let’s check out a couple other clips from Embiid.

The Cameroonian has the potential to be a special two-way player and his defense on the lightning-fast John Wall here is so impressive.

This is unreal. From the top of the key, crossover, spin, pump fake, step-through and a bucket. A 7’2 center playing like a guard, unbelievable!

Here’s Embiid clearing the defensive glass, running, and getting the ball back before using a stutter dribble from to right elbow to draw a foul. So fluid.
