The Sixers Formally Apologize for Not Letting Sevyn Streeter Sing the National Anthem in ‘We Matter’ T-shirt

The Sixers issued a statement on Friday afternoon apologizing for how they handled the national anthem situation and Sevyn Streeter, two days after the incident.

This is the second statement the Sixers issued on the matter as they issued one on Wednesday night, after the story began to go viral.

Many people on social media took sides on if the Sixers handled it well or not, especially after the report came out that Streeter’s shirt was seen as a breach of contract.

I know Pi editor-in-chief Nick Piccone and I differ on this topic as I believe the Sixers would’ve had less of a PR nightmare had they just let her sing that night, and I think that is what they are realizing now with this statement. [Editor’s note: I liked the statement the Sixers released explaining why they made the decision, but it’s still weird that they did it. Like I said, why all of a sudden take a stand against that, when it’s been going on all over the country?]

If you were making the final decision, would you have let her sing or not? Discuss!
