Recap: Joel Embiid-less Sixers Get Routed by the Hornets

Well, that was a slop show.

And no Joel Embiid made it even tougher to watch.

Ersan Ilyasova scored 14 points in his Philadelphia 76ers debut and the Sixers fell to 0-4 with a 109-93 loss to the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday night.

This sequence of events was the epitome of how ugly this game got at times.

Jahlil Okafor got in on the fun as well.

The 30-year-old Ilyasova, who was acquired from the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday afternoon as part of a package which saw the Sixers part with third-year forward Jerami Grant, was 5-of-12 from the field and 2-of-6 from beyond the arc.

Okafor, who is still on a minutes restriction coming back from his knee injury, posted 12 points and five rebounds after sitting out Tuesday night’s game against the Orlando Magic. Instead, it was Embiid who was given the night off after playing his first three games.

Dario Saric, who was 4-of-21 from the floor over his first two games, tied for the team-high with 14 points to go with seven rebounds after putting up 21 against Orlando. He was 5-of-13 from the field.

The Sixers turned the ball over 17 times.

Kemba Walker recorded 22 points and seven assists to lead Charlotte, which improved to 3-1 on the young season. Nicolas Batum added 20 points, seven boards and four assists.

The Sixers led 53-46 at halftime, but the Hornets used a 26-5 run to start the third quarter and open up a 72-61 advantage before coasting to the easy win the rest of the way.
