Adam Schefter on the Eagles’ Pursuit of DeSean Jackson and Alshon Jeffery

After having him on his show on Tuesday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter joined 97.5 The Fanatic’s Morning Show on Wednesday for a few minutes with Anthony Gargano to discuss DeSean Jackson and another free-agent wide receiver, Alshon Jeffery.

So what about that potential Jackson reunion in Philly?

I think we all agree it’s possible. I don’t know that it’s likely, I don’t know that it’s unlikely, but it’s within the realm of possibility depending on how a lot of different things go.

Schefter indicated that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers could be a destination for Jackson, who said on Schefter’s podcast Monday that if he leaves with Washington, he’d want to play with a “great quarterback.” Jameis Winston certainly has the potential to be great.

What about Alshon Jeffery and his chances of playing for the Eagles?

I was talking to a couple of people the other day about what Jeffery’s price tag might be. I know there’s some people out there who think he could get $15-to-$16 million a year. I don’t know that the Eagles would be there. And the reason they say that is, I think that basically there are not a ton of quality free agents, but there are a ton of teams with a lot of cap room. So they’ve got to spend it on somebody.

While I’d be interested in Jeffery’s services, I definitely don’t want to get into a huge bidding war for him. Kenny Stills, Pierre Garcon and Kenny Britt are other free agent options at wideout that have been linked to the Eagles.
