What Was I Thinking? Worst Purchase of 2017 So Far

Yeah, that’s the question here. OK, to fill you in on why I purchased this push mower … For starters, I moved into a new townhouse where everybody essentially has their own mower. One family on the end uses a lawn care service but my man wanted $60 for the month? Nah, that’s not worth it. At least,  I thought.

With that, I decided to purchase a mower. We’re going through a transitional phase at the house so I’m limited on space in the garage. Along with the simple fact that my yard is 6-8 passes in the back, 2 passes in the front, and a small yard altogether.  So, the first thought was buying a mower that I can hang on hooks in the garage. (I had to be under the influence when I broke this down.)

Second thought was easy … there are no weeds, just grass, so a simple push mower is all I need. So at 1:32 A.M. last Thursday, for $72, I purchased the:

GreenWorks 25052 16-Inch Reel Lawn Mower with Grass Catcher

In my head, I feel like you can say that making Amazon purchases after midnight is a lot like being out past midnight, nothing good happens after that time!

So, today was the first time I broke it out of the box and assembled it. (Only a few screws holds this bad boy together.) Went out back and after three passes, it’s going back in the box and heading right back to Amazon. At the time, there WERE no weeds in the yard. That’s my first complaint, it cuts grass fine, but anything over a three-inch blade of grass and it’s not coming down. Second, the edges around fences or poles. You must own a weedwacker if you own this push mower and that’s just ridiculous.

End of the story here, don’t be a dope. Whenever there’s a choice, go with a motor! I’m not sure there’s ever a reason to buy one without!
