What’s Happening in Philly This Weekend: June 9-11

Each weekend, we will post some of the most unique social and culture places to visit in addition to exciting events in and around the Philly area. We call it Philly Influencer’s Weekend Picks. Events Running Through the Weekend:

1. Art After Five


Where: Philadelphia Museum of Art, 2600 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy.
When: Friday, June 9th, 5PM-8:45PM

Start your weekend off right with this after work and evening event that has all the flare. The Philadelphia Museum of Art’s weekly “Art After 5” series will have New York pop band Karikutura performing this Friday. There will be great drinks and tasty food by Starr Catering at this artistically enhanced event.

2. Philly Beer Week Continues


Where: Various locations
When: Ends Sunday, June 11th

Philly Beer Week has been off and running for several days now. Its closing weekend will have many exciting excursions for the and avid beer lover. There will be a tap takeover, beer garden pop ups, all day happy hours, festivals, and more. Be sure to enjoy these great drinking deals while they last.

3.  All-City Jazz Festival


Where: Kimmel Center, 300 S. Broad St.
When: Friday, June 9th, 11AM-5PM

This is a free and day-long musical event. The Philly POPS will showcase several schools in the All-City Jazz program and the Kimmel Center’s Creative Music for Jazz program. There will be mesmerizing ensemble performances, Master Class sessions, and live music at different locations.

4. Chris Gethard


Where: Theater of The Living Arts, 334 South St.
When: Friday, June 9th, 8:30PM

Comedian, actor, and NJ native Chris Gethard will be bringing the laughs to the Theater of The Living Arts stage. The act recently had his show Career Suicide featured on HBO in May. The critically acclaimed Judd Apatow production was based on his off-broadway show. Come see a live glimpse of the engaging broadcast that had viewers coming back for more.

5. Jo Koy


Where: Punch Line Philly, 33 E. Laurel St.
When: Friday, June 9th, 8PM & 10:15PM, Saturday, June 10th 7PM, 9:15PM, & 11:45PM, and Sunday, June 11th, 9:30PM

You read the dates correctly. Jo Koy will be performing a whopping six times this weekend. It’s important to note that this Sunday is the only show that still has tickets for the “Chelsea Lately” alum. The fun, exciting, and touring comedian will be displaying his in-your-face brand of comedy all weekend long.

6. Wayne Music Festival


Where: Lancaster Ave and N. Wayne Ave. Wayne, PA
When: Saturday, June 10th, 12PM-10:30PM

WXPN welcomes and presents The 2017 Wayne Music Festival. There will be three soundstages and over a dozen bands performing. More than 10,000 people came out last year to hear amazing artists from every genre of music. There will be more than 75 vendors on site selling food and drinks all day.

7. Organ Day at the Kimmel Center


Where: Kimmel Center, 300 S. Broad St.
When: Saturday, June 10th, 11AM-5PM

This Saturday is the 7th Annual Fred J. Cooper  Memorial Organ Day. This free event will consist of a six-hour musical marathon. The Kimmel Center’s prestigious organ will be blaring beautiful music for all-ages. There will be special demonstrations, a silent film that will be highlighted by live music, special performances, and more.

8. Fishtown FestivAle


Where: Various locations
When: Saturday, June 10th,12PM-10PM

Frankford Avenue will be swarming with Philadelphians looking for a good time this Saturday. This craft beer spectacle will have food, DJs, exciting games, vendors, and many more activities. There will be a special Johnny Brenda’s tent serving up pulled pork and crab sandwiches, great side dishes, and more to go along with the wide and full drinking menus at the festival.

9. Bacon and Beer Classic


Where: The Piazza at Schmidt’s Commons, 1001 N. 2nd St.
When: Saturday, June 10th, 12PM-1PM

Come to The Piazza at Schmidt’s Commons for this Bacon and Beer classic pop up.  There will be plenty of bacon-infused meal and dishes, live music, contests giveaways, and more than 50 beers for sale.

10. Chestnut Hill Plein Air Festival


Where: 8600-8100 Germantown Avenue.
When: Saturday, June 10th, 10AM-3PM

The Philadelphia Garden District present the Chestnut Hill Plein Air Festival this weekend. It’s the event’s third annual year. There will be plenty of fine arts and crafts on display. There will be also be live entertainment and cultural excursions.

11. Shakedown Street Beer Festival


Where: City Tap House U City, 3925 Walnut St.
When: Saturday, June 10th, 1PM-6PM

City Tap House at University City will be hosting the Shakedown Street Beer Festival. There will be several craft beers from Sierra Nevada, Fat Heads, and Terrapin Brewing. There will also be many vendors on location and a wonderful spread of delicious food.

12. Jack Johnson


Where: BB&T Pavilion, 1 Harbour Blvd.
When: Saturday, June 10th, 7:30PM

Singer-songwriter Jack Johnson will be performing at the BB&T Pavillon this Saturday night. Johnson will be singing songs from any of his five studio albums and maybe some new material. Come hear this amazing acoustic singer and take in the mellow sounds of his great music.

13. Night Run Nation Music Festival


Where: XFINITY Live!, 1100 Pattison Ave.
When: Saturday, June 10th, 8:30PM

The world’s premier running music festival comes to XFINITY Live! this Saturday night. Your nighttime promenade will be highlighted by bright designs, lasers, electronica dance music, and more. The racecourse will be illuminated and the music from the various DJs at several stages will be voluminously timing your pace.

14. Silent Philly City Hall


Where: City Hall, 1401 JFK Blvd.
When: Saturday, June 10th, 10PM-2AM

Silent Philly has been the city’s go to party feature for the last couple of years. This weekend there will be a silent dance party at the esteemed City Hall. Come to the downtown attraction and grab your bright headphones. Feel free to change the color to pick which genre of music you wish to dance the night away to.

15. Betsy Ross House Flag Festival


Where: Betsy Ross House, 231 Arch St.
When: Sunday, June 11th-Saturday, June 17th

This Sunday marks the beginning of the 10th Annual Betsy Ross House Flag Festival. There will be Benjamin Franklin and George Washington impersonators, engaging activities for children, ceremony recreations, games, circus acts, and performances.

16. Radio 104.5 Birthday Show Night 2


Where: BB&T Pavilion, 1 Harbour Blvd. Camden, NJ
When: Sunday, June 11th, 1PM

The second concert in the Radio 104.5 10th Birthday series is this Sunday. The Camden Waterfront musical amphitheater will be buzzing with performances from The Killers, Bleachers, Foster The People, Kaleo, and more. The closing night for this festival will be one of the best local events this weekend.

17. 2017 CF Super Car Show


Where: Wells Fargo Center, 3601 South Broad St.
When: Sunday, June 11th, 10AM-2PM

The 2017 CF Gala and Super Car Show is this Sunday. There will be several cars on display in the Wells Fargo Center lots. The show will also have a road rally for kids. Tickets are just $5 for this exciting and spectacular car event.

18. Odunde Festival


Where: 23rd and South St.
When: Sunday, June 11th, 10AM-8PM

This annual event attracts up to 500,000 attendees. Spanning over 12 city blocks, the Odunde Festival showcases over 100 cultural crafts and artistic pieces. There will be two stages for live music and entertainment, African and Caribbean performers, drumming and dance classes, and more.
