Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid Won’t Be Playing in the NBA Summer League

If there’s something huge to look forward to next basketball season, it’s seeing Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid healthy and on the court at the same time.

And that could very well happen, but it won’t happen during the NBA’s Summer League this year. According to Keith Pompey, both will sit out.

I’m completely fine with this. Simmons even moreso than Embiid. I understand the argument that Simmons and Embiid should get back on the court as soon as possible and in game shape – but what type of game shape are they really getting into during the Summer League months? It’s glorified street ball. There will be guys on the court they’d never play against again. Keep ’em healthy and get ’em ready for training camp.

Then the real season can begin.
