The Eagles and Derek Barnett ‘Finally’ Agree to Terms

The Eagles’ first-round selection of the 2017 NFL Draft officially agreed to his contract today. After, you know, what felt like forever.

Or … maybe not.

Defensive end Derek Barnett and the Eagles agreed to terms on his four-year rookie deal. But has he signed it yet? Hmmm…

According to Bleeding Green Nation, Barnett’s deal is projected to be worth $12.8 million through the four-year rookie duration, including a $7.5 million signing bonus.

The Eagles have a fifth-year option they could exercise, should they choose to do so, on Barnett’s contract. Barnett will likely challenge for a starting spot in the defensive rotation, and although it’s really, really, really early, I think he’ll earn one.

Because why the hell not?

Methinks we’ll be seeing an Instagram post with Barnett officially signing his contract some time this weekend. Or tonight.
