What’s Happening in Philly This Weekend: June 23-25

Each weekend, we will post some of the most unique social and culture places to visit in addition to exciting events in and around the Philly area. We call it Philly Influencer’s Weekend Picks. Events Running Through the Weekend:

1. The Midway at Blue Cross RiverRink


Where: Blue Cross RiverRink, 101 s. Columbus Blvd.
When: Opens Friday, June 23rd

The Blue Cross RiverRink has an added attraction at its fantastic waterfront location. Carnival rides and games will be on the menu at this great entertainment area. There will be a Ferris wheel, carousel, a magic carpet ride, and more. Each ride is $4. Enjoy basketball games, balloon bust, and other carnival favorites.

2. Art After 5


Where: Philadelphia Museum of Art, 2600 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy.
When: Friday, June 23rd, 5PM-8:45PM

The Philadelphia Museum of Art will be opening its doors for the sounds of rhythmic Latin Jazz and  serene classical music. Dutch pianist Peter Beets talent is something that should be heard after a long rigorous day. Come to this artistically themed event at this treasure of a museum.

3. Lady Antebellum 


Where: BB&T Pavilion, 1 Harbor Blvd. Camden, NJ
When: Friday, June 23rd, 7PM

Country trio Lady Antebellum will be performing the local leg of their You Look Good Tour this Friday. The musical stars released their latest studio release Heart Break two weeks ago. The “This City” singers will have plenty of hits to choose from as they rock this gorgeous outdoor amphitheater.

4. Twilight in the Gardens 


Where: Philadelphia Magic Gardens, 1020 South St.
When: Friday, June 23rd, 7PM-10PM

The beautifully structured Philadelphia Magic Gardens will be continuing its Twilight in the Gardens party series this Friday. There will be live music and plenty of arts and crafts making at this event. It’s BYOB and will feature performers and teaching artists on location. Tickets are $18 for general admission. Club members and children’s’ tickets are discounted.

5. Caribbean Day at Reading Terminal 


Where: Reading Terminal Market, 12th and Arch St.
When: Saturday, June 24th, 10AM-3PM

The Reading Terminal Market will be celebrating Caribbean-American Heritage Month this weekend in delicious fashion. There will be food demonstrations and entertaining live music. Mixologist Remy Duncombe and Chet Morley will be serving up virgin cocktails to pair with the various tasty options in the market.

6. Makers Market


Where: The Schmidt’s Commons, 1001 N. 2nd St.
When: Saturday, June 24th, 10AM-6PM

Northern Liberties continues its tradition of having wonderful outdoor events at its piazza. Makers Market is a fantastic open air market showcasing collectibles, crafts, produce, arts, and more. There will be plenty of beautiful pieces to sort through at this one-of-a-kind event.

7. Summer Ale Festival 


Where: Philadelphia Z00, 3400 Girard Ave.
When: Saturday, June 24th, 7PM-6PM

The Philadelphia Zoo will be the place to be this Saturday as it hosts its annual Summer Ale Festival. VIP access gets you early entry to this specialty brew event. Guests will get a souvenir tasting cup, unlimited beer samplings, complimentary shuttle service. Your ticket also includes admission to the zoo.

8. Battleship New Jersey Beer Festival


Where: USS Battleship New Jersey, 100 Clinton St. Camden, NJ
When: Saturday, June 24th, 1PM-4:30PM

Speaking of beer festivals, Battleship New Jersey offers you the opportunity to taste the best craft beers on its historic deck. There will be 44 total breweries represented and an after party at Cooper River Distillers. There will be plenty of drinks and live music at this gathering that will surely have great views.

9. Manayunk Arts Festival


Where: Main Street
When: Saturday, June 24th, 11AM-7PM and Sunday, June25th, 11AM-6PM

The 28th Annual Manayunk Arts Festival is this weekend. This creative, artistic, and crafts festival is truly a great way to ring in the first weekend of the summer. There will be almost 200,000 people in attendance at this buyers, collectors, and designers event. Stop by to see great pieces from various mediums, buy jewelry, and enjoy some good food.

10. FUNK of AGES Block Party and Concert


Where: The Fillmore Philadelphia, 29 E. Allen St.
When: Saturday, June 24th, 1PM-4PM

Curated by Lettuce, this Funk filled musical event will take over The Fillmore Philadelphia this Saturday. There will be a free block party with live music and vendors before the concert. Afterwards Lettuce, Snarky Pupy, and Turkaz will perform at this amazing musical venue.

11. Molestice 


Where: 100 N. Mole St.
When: Saturday, June 24th, 12PM-8PM

Continuing in the block party theme, the masses will be coming out to Molestice 2017 this Saturday. This free annual block party will have tremendous live music, drinks, and plenty of food trucks. This year’s lineup Low Cut Connie, Hank & Cupcakes, Killiam Shakespeare, Brian La Pann, and more.

12. The Lord Of The Rings


Where: The Mann Center, 5201 Parkside Ave.
When: Saturday, June 24th, 7:30PM

There’s something so riveting about a film with a great score. The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King will have the added bonus of getting a live score treatment this Saturday night at The Mann Center. Members of The Philadelphia Orchestra will be highlighting the screening of the film with their skilled musicianship and great sound.

13. The Total Package Tour


Where: Wells Fargo Center, 3601 S. Broad St.
When: Saturday, June 24th, 7PM

The Total Package Tour has a flashback lineup of New Kids On The Block, Boyz II Men, and Paula Abdul. The co-headlining tour will be one of the main attractions at the Wells Fargo Center this weekend. Come hear some of the top hits of the 90’s at this concert that has acts with numerous hit singles.

14. Power 99’s Slayball


Where: Harrah’s Philadelphia, 777 Harrah’s Blvd. Chester, PA
When: Saturday, June 24th, 8PM

R&B songstress will be in the area this Saturday. Power 99’s Slayball will feature The First Lady of Bad Boy Records. Recently, Evans released a collaboration album with her late husband The Notorious B.I.G. titled The King & I. She will certainly put on a great show highlighting tracks that made her one of the best voices in her genre.

15. TRAP Karaoke


Where: Theater of the  Living Arts, 334 South St.
When: Saturday, June 24th, 8PM

TRAP Karaoke offers you a fun and extremely entertaining way to spend your Saturday night.  This wild and highly original event will have many local partygoers hitting the stage to belt out their favorite songs in front of the crowd. The energy will be high and the microphone will be waiting for all who dare.

16. The Color Run 5K Philadelphia


Where: Citizens Bank Park, 1 Citizens Bank Way
When: Sunday, June 25th, 11AM-6PM

The Color Run Dream Tour continues lighting up cities across the nation. This Sunday the illuminating and rigorous 5K run will be lining the streets of Philadelphia. There will be a foam zone, giant inflatable unicorns on the course, medals handed out, and more.

17. Dead & Company Summer Tour


Where: BB&T Pavilion, 1 Harbor Blvd. Camden, NJ
When: Sunday, June 25th, 7PM

This is the second time BB&T Pavilion make an appearance on this list. The Dead & Company Tour features Mickey Hart, John Mayer, Bob Weir, Bill Kreutzmann, and more. This mashup between Mayer, Grateful Dead,  and Phish musicians has something very unique to offer onstage when they ignite the crowd.

18. Hip Hop for Philly


Where: Trocadero Theatre, 1003 Arch St.
When: Sunday, June 25th, 7PM

This concert series is in its 5th year. The lineup includes DJ Diamond Kuts, Kur, Bri Stevens, and others. This free event and hip hop pop up supports and promotes HIV testing in the community. There will be drinks, food, and more all available for purchase at this all-Philadelphia musical event.
