The Eagles May Have Saved Jon Dorenbos’ Life by Trading Him

The Philly faithful was heartbroken a few weeks ago when the Eagles traded long snapper Jon Dorenbos to the New Orleans Saints. But, as it turns out, the trade just may have saved Dorenbos’ life.

According to the Times-Picayune Saints beat writer Josh Katzenstein, doctors discovered an aortic aneurysm in Dorenbos’ heart during a physical. He will undergo surgery for it.

Eagles head coach Doug Pederson said the team wasn’t aware of the condition prior to the trade.

“It’s the first I’ve heard of it. I’d have to check with our medical staff on that. That’s out of my jurisdiction.”

The trade being voided is the last thing on anyone’s mind, at least here in Philly. We wish Dorenbos the best in the future and a speedy recovery, and also hope he remains a part of the Eagles, and Philly, family for a long, long time.
