Carson Wentz Named NFC Offensive Player of the Month

Carson Wentz owned October.

And people noticed.

Wentz was named NFC Offensive Player of the Month for October today.

Impressive numbers. Not #bad.

More:

“I just think that he’s played extremely well,” head coach Doug Pederson said after the Week 7 win over Washington. “He understands the game plan. Listen, he studies and prepares like I’ve never seen before in a quarterback. And to be this young and to hang in there and take shot after shot, it’s just amazing to me that – a lot of guys would probably duck and run or throw the ball away and that’s just not in him. That’s just not his demeanor. He’s going to continue to shoot the ball down the field. And you just see his mental and physical toughness. And it’s fun to watch when it’s clicking like that and he’s playing that well.”

Wentz completed 89 of 148 (60.1 percent) pass attempts for 1,247 yards, 14 touchdowns, just three interceptions, and a 110.4 passer rating. He led the Eagles to a perfect 5-0 record during the month of October. Wentz led all NFC quarterbacks in passing touchdowns and passer rating, and ranked fourth in the conference in passing yards from Weeks 4-8. The 14 touchdown passes were the most thrown by an Eagles quarterback in a single month in franchise history.

Wentz produced three of the top four performances of his career, in terms of passer rating, in Week 5 vs. Arizona (128.3), Week 6 at Carolina (110.7), and Week 7 vs. Washington (126.3). Wentz also recorded three games with three or more passing touchdowns, including two with a career-high-tying four.

This is Wentz’s first career NFC Offensive Player of the Month award. He won NFC Offensive Rookie of the Month honors back in September of 2016. This season, Wentz was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against the Redskins in Week 7.

Keep it going, Carson. For the love of all Eagles fans, keep it going.
