The Spotlight of the Week: Thanksgiving Eve

Alexander’s: Alexander’s the new restaurant and bar adjacent to the King of Prussia Mall will be serving up the popular cocktail The Doppelgänger (Angel’s Envy Bourbon, Disaronno, Luxardo Cherry and Fever Tree Ginger Ale) for just $8. Come to this new trendy place for a pre-thanksgiving sip.

CO-OP at The Study:  On Thanksgiving Eve, University City’s CO-OP at The Study is offering a fun extended happy hour for those looking to get an early start to holiday festivities.  Starting at noon and running until 6:30, the restaurant and bar will offer $5 craft draft beer, $7 red and white wine, $8 classic cocktails including CO-OP’s Margarita, Moscow Mule, Negroni and Old Fashioned. Nine small plates at just $5 keep revelers fed and well satiated with mini grilled cheese, charred broccoli, calamari, and baked ricotta.

Royal Boucherie: Royal Boucherie is a French-inspired brasserie etched in  Old City. The bar and restaurant, from Top Chef winner Nicholas Elmi, is calling friends and family to come together and enjoy Thanksgiving Eve City Wides with Philadelphia Brewing Company’s Kenzinger and shots of Powers for just $6; along with Wild Turkey Bourbon Old Fashioned and a Mezcal Smash with sage, lemon and honey — $10 each.

Red Owl Tavern: Old City’s Red Owl Tavern is inviting friends to come together during the Thanksgiving week and enjoy Lead Bartender Kyle Darrow’s Tierra Secreta Teso Monastrell cocktail and Chef Bobby Surdam’s Ricotta Agnolotti (with sweet potato puree, roasted mixed mushrooms, beurre blanc) for a good cause. A portion of the proceeds from each will be donated to No Kid Hungry through Sunday, November 25.

Square 1682:  Rittenhouse restaurant Square 1682 is offering house cocktail For Shore with Toki Japanese Whiskey, Pierre Ferrand Cognac, Pumpkin Orgeat, lemon and bitters for just $10 on Thanksgiving Eve.

Townsend:  Townsend the acclaimed eponymous restaurant from Chef Townsend Wentz is offering $8 ciders and wines on tap at its industry-poplar bar as well, late night wine specials (after the kitchen closes and the bar stays open until 2 a.m.) manager Harry Jamison is pulling out the stops with offering a well-curated list of 10 bottles of wine at 40 percent off for the night after the kitchen closes. “And a lot of the wines will be from all over the map. Pet-nat, natural wines, some really funky stuff,” he says.

With Thanksgiving approaching, its great to know your holiday options. Some people choose to bring the family together in the comfort of their own homes. Others ditch the traditional sit-down for a trip to one of their favorite restaurants. Here’s a rundown of all the options the top eateries in the city have for Thanksgiving.

Assembly Rooftop Lounge: Assembly Rooftop Lounge welcomes you to watch the Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade from new heights. The trendy and upscale lounge will offer up great views of America’s oldest Thanksgiving Day parade. Families are welcome at this watch party, offering à la carte brunch bites and festive cocktails from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Bank & Bourbon: Bank & Bourbon, will offer a special buffet for Thanksgiving. Chef Joe Thomas Jr. and his talented culinary team have cultivated a stellar menu this year. There will be a fresh oyster and seafood displays, carved local turkey and prime rib, and an elaborate choice of pies prepared by the stylish American eatery’s pastry chef Amanda Kaewvichien. Sofitel Philadelphia: Sofitel PhiladelphiaChez Colette at the will be hosting a tremendous Thanksgiving gourmet buffet. Executive Chef Edward Hancock’s buffet includes a raw bar, appetizers, entrées, meat carvings, and desserts. The buffet includes a complimentary glass of champagne as well. The raw bar that includes oysters, clams and shrimp; appetizers such as delicious vegetables and French and American cheese boards; traditional entrées including brown sugar roasted sweet potatoes, carved turkey and prime rib, and more.

The Twisted Tail: The Twisted Tail is Headhouse Square’s southern-inspired restaurant, bar and live juke joint. The frequented restaurant will offer a family-style Thanksgiving dinner from noon to 10 p.m. on Thanksgiving. Guests will choose from a selection of meats( roasted Lancaster turkey, herb-crusted prime rib, pineapple-glazed ham or honey bbq glazed salmon) as well as shared sides. For dessert, there will be mini pumpkin, apple and pecan pies. Dinner is $49/person; children younger than 10 can dine for $25. Those under 3, dine for free.

Urban Farmer: Executive Chef Seth Pettit has a specially-prepared Thanksgiving feast waiting for you at Urban Framer. The meal is $75 per person from 4 p.m. – 9 p.m. on Thanksgiving. It’s half-price for children 12 and under. Your tremendous choices include Blue Hubbard and Apple Bisque, Crispy Potato Gnocchi, Pennsylvania Raised Turkey, Herb and Mushroom Crusted Prime Rib with horseradish crème fraiche.  Wonderful blends of classic and accented side dishes will be available. For dessert, try Pumpkin Pie, Pumpkin Bourbon Cheesecake, and Chocolate Pecan Tart.
